Having just kicked off our next big project here in our Newcastle workshop, we never cease to be amazed by the comparison between old engines and modern electric motors.
It will be all hands on deck upgrading this 1978 British Leyland diesel. Originally running at 97kW of power and 2,500Nm of torque, we’re fitting this head-turning double-decker bus with a brand-new electric motor delivering 220kW and 3,100Nm of torque. All that extra power in a package about a fifth the size, and without the oil leaks.
It’s just another great example of the point we always make: why buy a new EV when you can repower what you’ve already got?
