BYD Auto Australia intends releasing four to six BYD models during the next two years, the first being an Australian variant of the electric SUV Yuan Plus for which details and pre-ordering are likely by late February.
Meanwhile, the company says its limited release of E6 and T3 models has sold out and its unsure whether more of these will be available in Australia.
BYD Auto Australia is developing an “Electric Car Ecosystem” and has announced mycar Tyre and Auto as its national delivery and service partner, starting with eight locations and scaling up as more BYD EVs are delivered.
BYD produces many models globally but says it is unable to confirm timelines and availability of models not appearing on its website.

“As soon as BYD models are scheduled for Australia, information will be made available on our website,” BYD Auto Australia says.
It hopes to have limited numbers of new 2022 models available for test drives through “Experience Partners” in major capital cities.
“Our first BYD by evdirect.com.au Experience Centre in Sydney is taking shape and we look forward to welcoming our first guests in late February,” BYD Auto Australia says, adding it has finance available through EVDirect Finance late February and will be able to provide home charging solutions through its charging partners.
BYD announced in late December it will launch the Yuan Plus in the second quarter of 2022 with its official dealer in Singapore, E-Auto – a division of Vantage Automotive and a member of the Sime Darby Motors group.
The Yuan Plus was unveiled at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show in China, the EV promising improved power, a new design language, and excellent battery range.
“With the EV market boom, we’ve seen growing interest in BYD passenger cars in Singapore,” Vantage Automotive managing director Christopher Chin says.
BYD Singapore managing director James Ng says strong interest in the newly launched BYD Yuan Plus is expected as it features BYD’s latest e-platform 3.0 and Blade Battery technology.
The Yuan Plus there will feature a modern design and have a 150kW and 310Nm electric drive motor. It will come in two options – the entry-level ‘standard’ with 400km range from its 50kWh battery, while the premium variant is available in an extended 498km range and 60kWh battery.
BYD’s Blade Battery technology comes as standard in the Yuan Plus, offering industry-leading safety levels, a longer life cycle, extensive single-charge range capabilities, and better space utilisation compared with conventional lithium iron phosphate block batteries.
